If reports that Sven wanted to play Beckham at right back are true, then even Sven has realised that Beckham is not cutting the mustard on the wing. England is crying out for Aaron Lennon's pace, but Sven can't bring himself to drop the captain.
Even Beckham knows he can't play at right back, he told Sven he just isn't good enough in that position.
Saying all this, I still think we will beat Portugal. But as Gary Neville says, if we don't, we only have ourselves to blame and were fooling ourselves thinking we could win the World Cup.
